Format telephone numbers
When entering patient and prescriber telephone numbers they should be automatically separated into shorter blocks of digits or ‘chunks’.
Telephone numbers are easier to read and confirm when their digits are chunked, rather than appearing in one large group as they are now.
Australian telephone numbers in general use have no more than 10 digits and the software should prompt you if you have missed entering a digit:
Landlines – 2 digits for the area code followed by 8 digits for the rest of the telephone number i.e., 02 XXXX XXXX .
Mobiles – 10 digits (there is no area code) i.e., 04XX XXX XXX.
